Danny Bumb is currently serving as the Crisis Action Team manager of the 72nd Air Base Wing Plans and Programs Office during the COVID-19 crisis. During COVID, his office compiles daily situational reports on the status of the nation and the installation to report to leadership. They also have daily teleconferences and virtual meetings with leadership and members of the Emergency Operations Center personnel. Currently, the office is working on Tinker’s 30/60/90-day window and figuring out how to get the installation back on track when the curve is flattened. The Plans and Programs Office is considered mission-critical for crisis situations. They are the eyes and ears for the Wing commander. As a strategic office, they are in tune with the Incident Commander, which is currently the 72nd Medical Group and Public Health members, formulating the best ways to keep the installation’s populace safe while still performing the mission. Bumb says the best part about his job “was apparent when COVID-19 hit and seeing that Team Tinker and the 72nd Air Base Wing can function at a level that is fluid. The 72nd Air Base Wing is a well-oiled machine and as soon as it hit, we went to work, working at a high-level during this crisis.” (U.S. Air Force photo/Kelly White)
