Brig. Gen. Heidi Hoyle, Commander, Military Surface Deployment and Distribution Command (SDDC) and Command Sgt. Maj. Rocky Carr, SDDC’s senior enlisted leader, recognize Sgt. Zachary Green, an Orderly Room Clerk at the 690th Rapid Port Opening Element, 832nd Trans. Bn., 597th Trans. Bde., for his standout performance throughout the Covid-19 pandemic and taking on additional duties as the training room non-commissioned officer in charge and his role in ensuring the success of four recent Turbo Distribution exercises amongst other achievements which ensured his unit's readiness during the Covid-19 pandemic at Joint Base Langley-Eustis, Newport News, Va. Jan. 19.
After the recognition ceremony, the Soldiers conducted a tour of their living and working areas, with stops at the battalion's deployment center, motor pool and Quality Assurance Quality Control center, barracks and Bn. headquarters.
At the end of the day, Brig. Gen. Hoyle and Command Sgt. Maj. Carr held a listening session with the Soldiers, offering the Soldiers a safe space to discuss personal experiences and the Army's efforts to advance diversity, equality, and inclusion across the ranks.
