Brig. Gen. Heidi Hoyle, Commander, Military Surface Deployment and Distribution Command (SDDC) and Command Sgt. Maj. Rocky Carr, SDDC’s senior enlisted leader, recognize Spc. Bennie Smith, a Transportation Management Coordinator assigned to the 688th Rapid Port Opening Element (RPOE), 832nd Trans. Bn., 597th Trans. Bde., for making a positive impact in the organization in the short amount of time he has been with the RPOE during a recognition ceremony at Joint Base Langley-Eustis, Newport News, Va. Jan. 19.
After the recognition ceremony, the Soldiers conducted a tour of their living and working areas, with stops at the battalion's deployment center, motor pool and Quality Assurance Quality Control center, barracks and Bn. headquarters.
At the end of the day, Brig. Gen. Hoyle and Command Sgt. Maj. Carr held a listening session with the Soldiers, offering the Soldiers a safe space to discuss personal experiences and the Army's efforts to advance diversity, equality, and inclusion across the ranks.
