Brig. Gen. Heidi Hoyle, Commander, Military Surface Deployment and Distribution Command (SDDC) and Command Sgt. Maj. Rocky Carr, SDDC’s senior enlisted leader, recognize Capt. (P) William Franklin, Operations Officer, 597th Trans. Bde., for his selfless service in support of the military's efforts to curb the spread of the coronavirus and for his notable role in assisting the military scale its operations to make rapid testing available to the general public, and other achievements which ensured his unit's readiness during the Covid-19 pandemic at Joint Base Langley-Eustis, Newport News, Va. Jan. 19.
After the recognition ceremony, the Soldiers conducted a tour of their living and working areas, with stops at the battalion's deployment center, motor pool and Quality Assurance Quality Control center, barracks and Bn. headquarters.
At the end of the day, Brig. Gen. Hoyle and Command Sgt. Maj. Carr held a listening session with the Soldiers, offering the Soldiers a safe space to discuss personal experiences and the Army's efforts to advance diversity, equality, and inclusion across the ranks.
