Brig. Gen. Heidi Hoyle, Commander, Military Surface Deployment and Distribution Command (SDDC) and Command Sgt. Maj. Rocky Carr, SDDC’s senior enlisted leader, recognize Spc. Johnathan Welch for outstanding performance ensuring the security of the Soldiers stationed at the base, during a visit to the 597th Transportation Bde. headquarters, Joint Base Langley-Eustis, Newport News, Va. Jan. 19.
After the recognition ceremony, the Soldiers conducted a tour of their living and working areas, with stops at the battalion's deployment center, motor pool and Quality Assurance Quality Control center, barracks and Bn. headquarters.
At the end of the day,Brig. Gen. Hoyle and Command Sgt. Maj. Carr held a listening session with the Soldiers, offering the Soldiers a safe space to discuss personal experiences and the Army's efforts to advance diversity, equality, and inclusion across the ranks.
