Fatema fills up a jerrycan with clean water from a well in her village in Yemen’s Ta’izz governorate in November 2021. USAID funded the installation of solar panels to power the well’s water pump, which the village was unable to operate due to soaring diesel prices. Now, villagers like Fatima are able to fetch safe water closer to home. “Before, we were worried about how to fetch water, which was a long journey of suffering all day,” says Fatema. “Thank you for those who save our lives and dignity.”
