USAID-trained midwife Rasha conducts a prenatal home visit in Ta’izz, Yemen in September 2021. Rasha is one of more than 200 community midwives trained by USAID’s Systems, Health and Resiliency Project (SHARP) to provide maternal, newborn and child health care. Part of Rasha’s role is to conduct household visits to educate mothers about danger signs during pregnancy, the importance of breastfeeding for both mothers and babies, and how to keep newborns healthy.
