Two girls fill jerrycans at a water collection point built with USAID funding in the Jabal Habashy District of Ta’izz Governorate in Yemen on November 10, 2021. Women and girls worldwide collectively spend 200 million hours every day collecting water. USAID funds construction and rehabilitation of water collection points closer to communities in Yemen. When women and girls have safe, reliable, and sustainable water security and sanitation services, it frees up more time for education and employment, reduces their vulnerability to gender-based violence, and provides privacy and dignity.
