Building a strong foundation in Iraq’s steel industry
Al Hayakil Factory, an ISO-9001 certified steel factory based in Basrah, specializes in steel structure fabrication for roofed sheds and caravans in addition to all types of welding work. Since its establishment in 1996, the factory has upgraded its tools and machinery to meet growing market demand.
Despite using modern machinery, the factory is limited in the product sizes it can produce, even though there is high demand for larger roof sheds and caravans.
The USAID-funded Tahfeez project assisted the factory with new machinery, allowing it to increase the size of the steel structures it produces.
As a result of USAID’s support, the Al Hayakil Factory grew, and so did their sales. The company created seven new jobs, and revenues increased by 10 percent, with further growth expected.
