Um Al-Rabieen Glass Company, established in 2019 in Mosul, helps to develop, construct, and rehabilitate infrastructure in Mosul district and Ninewa governorate. The company produces tempered glass with a capacity of 65,000 square meters per year. It was facing two main challenges to its growth: limited processing capacity in terms of technical quality, quantity, and speed, and limited availability of in-demand glass types.
The USAID-funded Tahfeez project provided Um Al-Rabieen with a glass edge smoothing machine and a vertical glass drill that will increase glass quality and quantity. The company’s staff also received health, and safety training to strengthen their skills and awareness in operating heavy machinery.
As a result of USAID’s support, Um Al-Rabieen Glass Company created 24 jobs, and it is expected to create a total of 28 new jobs and increase production and sales by 80 percent.
