Brazilian Marines with the Combat Air Battalion and U.S. Marines from Marine Air Control Group 28, 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing, pose for a photo after discussing Joint Terminal Attack Controller best practices and seeing the Surface Air Mistral during a subject matter expert exchange happening in conjunction with the Corpo de Fuzileiros Navais Exercício do Componente de Combate Aéreo (Brazilian Marine Corps Combat Air Component Exercise) April 29, 2024, at the Base Aérea-naval de São Pedro da Aldeia (Naval Air Station). While not directly part of the exercise, U.S. Marines worked with Brazilian counterparts to discuss best practices and experiences for a variety of aviation functions to include air defense, air traffic control, and casualty evacuation, in order to build partnership and increase interoperability and communication between militaries. Marine Air Control Group 28 provides aviation command and control, air defense, and communications support to 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing and II Marine Expeditionary Force. CCAEx included members of the Brazilian Air Force, Army and Navy, working simultaneously on multiple training objectives from April 29 to May 3.
