(CAMDEN, NJ) – Master Sgt. Anthony Persina (right), a 249th Engineer Battalion operations non-commissioned officer, talks with New Jersey Congressman Donald Norcross as other Soldiers look on in an elevator at the Cooper Medical Center about the battalion’s role and capabilities during a natural disaster response. The battalion is performing 300 assessments to critical infrastructure throughout New Jersey as part of a regional training exercise. These assessments help determine requirements and expedite generator installations at critical lifesaving and life sustaining locations like hospitals, shelters, or water distribution sites, which enable short-term power restoration for communities while the more permanent power sources are being restored during a national disaster response.
