The Bell XV-3 tiltrotor aircraft is set for testing in the 40- by 80-foot wind tunnel at the NASA Ames Research Center at Moffett Field, California, in 1957. The 80th anniversary of the first operation of the tunnel occurred in June. The 40x80, along with the 80- by 120-foot wind tunnel at the Ames Research Center, are managed by Arnold Engineering Development Complex. Together, these two tunnels make up the National Full-Scale Aerodynamics Complex. (NASA photo)
