The Bell X-14 vertical takeoff and landing aircraft is mounted in the 40- by 80-foot wind tunnel at the NASA Ames Research Center at Moffett Field, California, during the late 1960s. The X-14 was tested in the 40x80 tunnel during the latter part of the 1960s. The 80th anniversary of the first operation of the 40x80 tunnel occurred in June. The 40x80, along with the 80- by 120-foot wind tunnel at the Ames Research Center, are managed by Arnold Engineering Development Complex. Together, these two tunnels make up the National Full-Scale Aerodynamics Complex. (NASA photo)
