U.S. Army Spc. Miguel Zavala, 501st Brigade Support Battalion, 1st Armored Brigade Combat Team, 1st Armored Division, conducts a toolbox inventory to make sure his team had every piece of equipment in its toolbox while competing in the Iron Mechanic Competition as part of Torch Week held on Fort Bliss, Texas, Nov. 4, 2024. The competition consisted of four different teams from Soldiers across the 1st Armored Division and Fort Bliss. The 1st Armored Division's Torch Week is an annual event commemorating the Division's role in the World War II invasion of North Africa in 1942, known as 'Operation Torch,' as well as to celebrate the division's history and honor the everlasting legacy of Iron Soldiers through week-long sporting and morale-boosting events, which promote camaraderie and cohesion throughout the organization.
