Spc. Nicolas Anderson, assigned to 4th Battalion, 27th Field Artillery Regiment, 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 1st Armored Division, ties a cable to an OE-254 GRC ground antenna during the Iron Steel Competition as part of Torch Week 2024 celebrations held on Fort Bliss, Texas, Nov 4, 2024. While competing teams must keep time in mind, attention to detail to the knots on the antenna are crucial for the antenna to stay upright. The 1st Armored Division's 'Torch Week' is an annual event commemorating the Division's role in the World War II invasion of North Africa in 1942, known as 'Operation Torch,' as well as to celebrate the division's history and honor the everlasting legacy of Iron Soldiers through week-long sporting and morale-boosting events, which promote camaraderie and cohesion throughout the organization.
