Lance Cpl. Samanntha R. Albert adjusts the flame of a cutting torch so that she can cut through 1/4-inch steel during an engineering civic assistance project Sept. 23 at Taysan Elementary School, Legazpi, Republic of the Philippines during Amphibious Landing Exercise 2014. Albert used the torch to cut niches into steel beams that would be used as fence posts for the school. Humanitarian and civic assistance projects during PHIBLEX 14 offer unique opportunities to build interoperability with our partner nations, while at the same time building capacity and sustainability for the future. Albert is a combat engineer with Construction Platoon, Marine Wing Support Squadron 172, 1st Marine Aircraft Wing, III Marine Expeditionary Force. (U.S. photo by Sgt. Brian A. Marion/Released)
