Airman 1st Class James Giesick, 379th Expeditionary Aircraft Maintenance Squadron, 340th Aircraft Maintenance Unit, slides a protective boot on to a KC-135 landing gear axle before removing an unserviceable brake unit, Sept. 28, 2008, at an undisclosed air base in Southwest Asia. The tire needs to be removed and the brake unit replaced after a crack in the heat shield was detected during a post-flight inspection. Airman Giesick, a native of San Diego, Calif., is deployed from Grand Forks Air Force Base, N.D., in support of Operations Iraqi and Enduring Freedom and Joint Task Force - Horn of Africa.
