GREAT LAKES, Ill., (February 26, 2015) – Cmdr. Jack Miller (right), commanding officer, Naval Airborne Weapons, Maintenance Unit 1 on the island of Guam and 2014 Chief of Naval Personnel/Manpower, Personnel, Training and Education (MPT&E) Sailor of the Year (SOY) finalist, Hospital Corpsman 1st Class Sharon N. Barker, from Recruit Training Command (RTC), Great Lakes, Ill., visits with recruits during “Pizza Night” at Recruit Training Command (RTC) here, Feb. 26. Chief of Naval Personnel (CNP), Vice Adm. William F. Moran, named Intelligence Specialist 1st Class Johnetta Heckard, the junior enlisted IS (Intelligence Specialist) detailer from Commander, Navy Personnel Command (NPC), the CNP/MPT&E SOY at a luncheon ceremony held in the Port O’ Call Banquet and Conference Center on Naval Station Great Lakes here, Feb. 27. The other finalist was Navy Counselor 1st Class Ryan A. Blackmer, from Navy Recruiting District Michigan in Detroit, and the Navy Recruiting Command (NRC) SOY. “Pizza Night” is a congratulatory dinner held the night before the weekly Pass-In-Review graduation.
