On the lip of a water pipeline valve box are 16 bolts that secured the valve gate housing. The Mississippi Army National Guard?s Mayor Cell Water Team, 2nd Battalion, 198th Combined Arms out of Senatobia, Miss., and contractors conducted an Aug. 5 mission to pull valve gates. The Mayor Cell suspected that local Iraqis used these gates to shut off the flow, thus diverting water to their own unauthorized taps in the line.
