Mark Crow, civil general foreman, demonstrates the check valve in an air vent he has just installed on the pipeline that supplies raw water to Q-West during a Sept. 2 mission. The purpose was to relieve pressure in the pipe that made it difficult for the water to make the long, gradual climb from the Tigris River to Q-West.
