The 629th Forward Surgical Team's 1st Sgt. Katina Elliot (left), an operating room surgical technician, and Sgt. Chris Wickeser, a medic and civilian firefighter, hurry to prepare for an incoming medevac. A Ugandan Soldier working on a construction site was hit in the head by a steel beam, and the 629th sprang into action to stabilize him, stitch up a facial laceration, and prepare him to be transported via CH-47 Chinook helicopter to a hospital 200 miles south.
