FLAGSTAFF, Arizona (Aug. 15, 2016) – Midshipman Candidate James Cooper with the Arizona State University Naval Reserve Officers Training Corps unit attempts to mount the next vertical platform of giant rope ladder 40 feet above the ground Aug. 15, 2016, at the Northern Arizona University’s Challenge Course in Flagstaff, Arizona, as part of joint New Student Orientation training. Candidates from The University of Arizona also completed this and two other Challenge Course obstacles. The weeklong NSO training took place Aug. 12-19, with half combined in the Flagstaff area alongside freshman candidates from the University of New Mexico and Arizona State University NROTC units, and the second half at The University of Arizona in Tucson, Arizona. The joint regional training was the first combined evolution of its kind for The University of Arizona. (U.S. Marine Corps photo by Gunnery Sgt. Brian A. Tuthill)
