CAMP NAVAJO, Arizona (Aug. 15, 2016) – Midshipman Valentin Olingheru leads a team of midshipman candidates on a run before they conduct pull-ups, push-ups, and squats at the Navy Lt. Michael Murphy Medal of Honor station during the joint New Student Orientation competition Aug. 15, 2016, at Camp Navajo, Arizona. Olingheru is a student squad leader from The University of Arizona Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps unit. Candidates were divided into six teams and rotated through six stations to earn points. The University of Arizona NRTOC unit’s weeklong NSO training took place Aug. 12-19, with half combined in the Flagstaff area alongside freshman candidates from the University of New Mexico and Arizona State University NROTC units, and the second half at The University of Arizona in Tucson, Arizona. The joint regional training was the first combined evolution of its kind for The University of Arizona. (U.S. Marine Corps photo by Gunnery Sgt. Brian A. Tuthill)
