Lance Wheeler, a Wendell, North Carolina native, tests the rope on the MV-22B Osprey before Japanese Ground Self-Defense Force soldiers fast rope down at Somagahara, Japan, March 9, 201, during the aerial integration training portion of Forest Light 17-17. Forest Light is one of various bi-lateral training opportunities conducted by JGSD and deployed U.S. Marine forces to demonstrate the enduring commitment by both countries to peace, stability, and prosperity across the region. Wheeler is a machine gunner with Golf Company, 2nd Battalion, 3rd Marine Regiment. The Opsrey belong to Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron 265, Marine Aircraft Group 36, 1st Marine Aircraft Wing.
