Japanese Ground Self-Defense Force soldiers peek in the MV-22B Osprey at Somagahara, Japan, March 9, 2017 during the aerial integration training portion of Forest Light 17-1. JGSDF soldiers were preparing to fast rope off an Osprey after U.S. Marines fast roped off of the Japanese CH-46 Chinook. Forest Light is one of various bi-lateral training opportunities conducted by JGSD and deployed U.S. Marine forces to demonstrate the enduring commitment by both countries to peace, stability, and prosperity across the region.
