170723-N-LC424-540 PACIFIC OCEAN (July 23, 2017) Machinist’s Mate 1st Class Benjamin Gicheru, a San Diego native, assigned to the Engineering department aboard the amphibious dock landing ship USS Pearl Harbor (LSD 52) and Senior Chief Machinist’s Mate Gustavo Ramirez, a native of Sonora, California, assigned to Amphibious Squadron 3, perform maintenance in the ship’s main space. Pearl Harbor is currently embarked on a scheduled deployment as part of the America Amphibious Ready Group, which is comprised of more than 1,800 Sailors and 2,600 Marines assigned to the amphibious assault ship USS America (LHA 6), the amphibious transport dock ship USS San Diego (LPD 22), and Pearl Harbor.
