170918-N-UK248-063 U.S. 5TH FLEET AREA OF OPERATIONS (Sept. 18, 2017) Boatswain's Mate 3rd Class David Watson (left), a native of Birmingham, Alabama, assigned to the deck department aboard the amphibious dock landing ship USS Pearl Harobr (LSD 52), directs and observes flight deck personnel as they chock and chain a CH-53E Super Stallion helicopter assigned to Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron (VMM) 161 (Reinforced) to the ship's flight deck. Pearl Harbor is part of the America Amphibious Ready Group (ARG) and, with the embarked 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU), is deployed in support of maritime security operations and theater security cooperation efforts in the U.S. 5th Fleet area of operations.
