JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (Feb. 19, 2019) – Lt. Cmdr. Norma Shryock, a clinical social worker at Naval Hospital Jacksonville’s Behavioral Health Clinic, discusses the cycle of anger with a sailor. Shryock, a native of San Gabriel, California, says, “A brain injury, no matter what size, can cause a rippling effect in a person's life, but within each ripple there are people who can help.” March is National Brain Injury Awareness Month. The first step in recovery from a traumatic brain injury is recognizing the causes and symptoms, and seeking medical advice as soon as possible after a head injury.
