190814-N-PP451-1001 FORT HUNTER LIGGETT, Calif. (Aug. 14, 2019) Utilitiesman Constructionman Dalton Baynes, assigned to Naval Mobile Construction Battalion (NMCB) 5, mixes mortar next to the drill rig. Cement mortar is funneled between plastic casing and the borehole wall during the development phase of well construction. Seabees assigned to NMCB-5 participated in 24-hour drilling operations to develop a functional water well. The water well training was completed in preparation for Major Combat Operations response or Humanitarian Aid/Disaster Relief.
