190810-N-PP451-1002 FORT HUNTER LIGGETT, Calif. (Aug. 10, 2019) Construction Electrician Constructionman Nicholas Brown, from Bryan, Texas, and Utilitiesman Constructionman Dalton Baynes, from Greenville, South Carolina, both assigned to Naval Mobile Construction Battalion (NMCB) 5, perform a mud viscosity test. Specially mixed mud is pumped through the drill rig which is used to flush drill cuttings to the surface, lubricate the drill bit, and stabilize the walls of the bore hole to prevent catastrophic cave-ins. Seabees assigned to NMCB-5 participated in 24-hour drilling operations to develop a functional water well. (U.S. Navy photo by Equipment Operator 2nd Class Sheyenne Hales/Released)
