211119-N-EV253-1260 SAN DIEGO (Nov. 18, 2021) – Chief Aviation Ordnanceman Joseph Tonna, from Canton, Michigan, and assigned to the “Merlins” of Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron (HSC) 3, has his Chief Petty Officer (CPO) cover donned by his mentor, Chief Naval Air Crewman (Helicopter) Alex Vega, from Portland, Connecticut, during a CPO pinning ceremony hosted by HSC-3, aboard Naval Air Station North Island. During the ceremony, 28 selectees assigned to tenant squadrons responsible to Commander, Helcopter Sea Combat Wing, Pacific, were promoted to the rank of CPO, and represented their respective squadrons, including the “Merlins” of HSC-3, the “Black Knights” of HSC-4, the “Indians” of HSC-6, the “Eightballers” of HSC-8, “Golden Falcons” of HSC-12, “Chargers” of HSC-14, “Blackjacks” of HSC-21, “Wildcards” of HSC-23 and “Firehawks” of HSC-85.
