Saado and his wife were among the thousands of Yezidis who escaped from ISIS when they attacked Sinjar in 2014.
During the conflict, Saado and his wife lost their convenience store, which was their only source of income to support themselves.
“After losing my convenience store in Sinjar, which was my sole source of income, it became extremely difficult for my wife and me to make a living, especially because we both suffer from diabetes,” said Saado.
USAID supported Saado through a one-to-one program (Marla Ruzicka Iraqi War Victims Fund) by helping him open a new convenience store and providing him with shelves, a refrigerator, and inventory. “With this support, I’m no longer concerned about buying our medicine,” said Saado.
