When Ahmed Sabah, a mechanical engineer based in Baghdad, learned about the damaging impact of fuel-powered generators on the environment through a USAID-funded environmental awareness campaign, he took action by installing solar panels on his house's rooftop.
The system has greatly reduced his monthly electricity bill. And ensures a continued energy supply to his family of 8, which is especially important during the hot summer days when the national grid often fails to provide consistent power.
