USAID, in partnership with the Ezidi Millenium Organization (EMO), rehabilitated and refurbished the Omed School in the village of Kijook, near Sinjar Center. The school was heavily damaged by ISIS and closed in 2016, forcing approximately 530 students in the village to commute to an alternative school. Many children stopped attending school due to a lack of transportation. The village is thrilled with the news of the rehabilitation of the Omed School, and registration numbers are up ahead of the new academic year. USAID's support for the rehabilitation of the Omed School aims to help local authorities improve and provide responsive, equitable public services in Sinjar. Photo credit: Ta'afi, August 2022.
