PACIFIC OCEAN (Nov. 16, 2022) – Gas Turbine Systems Technician (Electrical) Fireman Tyler Sweeney performs corrective maintenance on a feed flow transducer in the main machinery room aboard amphibious assault ship USS Makin Island (LHD 8), Nov. 16, 2022. Feed flow transducers promote reverse osmosis which convert seawater to fresh water for shipboard cleaning and consumption. The Makin Island Amphibious Ready Group, comprised of amphibious assault ship Makin Island and amphibious transport docks USS Anchorage (LPD 23) and USS John P. Murtha (LPD 26), is underway conducting routine operations in the U.S. 3rd Fleet with the embarked 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit.
