AID programs in the Philippines seek to improve agriculture production, build rural roads, provide electricity to rural areas, curb population growth through family planning, improve health and nutrition, encourage farmer cooperatives, and assist poor families in urban areas. Food for Peace commodities such as CSM (corn-soy-milk), rolled oats, and dried milk are often supplemented with vegetables and other foods to feed needy children. Children are fed at one of the 5 sub-centers run by an American couple in Cagayan de Oro. Food for Peace is distributed by Catholic Relief Services. Mothers help prepare the meals. The children receive such meals twice a day, six days a week. Photo by Betty Snead.
