Spc. John Emmett, representing U.S. Army Europe, disassembles and assembles the .50-caliber weapons in a seven-minute time period during the battle drills test Oct. 5, 2006. The test also included performance in the laws of war, handling of prisoners, foot marches, stabilizing and evacuating casualties, establishing communications and detecting IEDs. Emmett, a signal support systems specialist with HHC, 21st Theater Support Command, Kaiserslautern, Germany, is one of 20 NCOs and Soldiers competing at the fifth annual NCO and Soldier of the Year competition Oct. 2-6, 2006, at Fort Lee, Va. Emmett is native to Greenwood, Ind.
