WELISARA NAVAL BASE, Sri Lanka (March 29, 2017) A Sri Lankan Marine provides cover for his squad during the patrolling portion of a military tactics training and exchange between U.S. Marines with the 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) and Sri Lankan Armed Forces, held as part of a theater security cooperation (TSC) engagement at Welissara Naval Base, March 29. During the TSC, approximately 325 Marines and Sailors from the 11th MEU and USS Comstock (LSD 45), and approximately 175 Marines and Sailors from the Sri Lankan Navy will participate in basic military and logistical exercises necessary to implement humanitarian assistance and disaster relief operations.
