1709013-N-CL027-004 PHILIPPINE SEA (Sept. 13, 2017) Boatswain’s Mate 2nd Class Jean Petitfrere, from Haiti, inspects the station seven fueling rig aboard the Navy’s forward-deployed aircraft carrier, USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76), before conducting a refueling-at-sea with Military Sealift Command’s fleet replenishment oiler, USNS John Ericsson (TA-O 194). Boatswain’s Mates train, direct, and supervise Sailors in the ship’s maintenance duties, deck operations, boat seamanship, upkeep of ship’s external structure and fuel rigging. Ronald Reagan, the flagship of Carrier Strike Group 5, provides a combat-ready force that protects and defends the collective maritime interests of its allies and partners in the Indo-Asia-Pacific region.
