A Soldier assigned to 1st Armored Division fires a Beretta M9 semi-automatic pistol, modified for training purposes, at an electronic skills trainer 2000 (EST 2000) during the weapons proficiency portion of division’s 2019 Best Warrior Competition, May 14, on Fort Bliss, Texas. The EST 2000 is a weapons simulator system designed to allow Soldiers to fire weapons which use compressed air to mimic the recoil from an actual shot and a sophisticated visual system which tracks the intended shots to test and train Soldiers without ammunition restrictions.
