Deputy Consul General Chahrazed Sioud, USAID Sr. Humanitarian Advisor for Iraq Ben Kauffeld, and Public Affairs Officer Gina Cabrera visited the Kabarto camps for internally displaced families in Duhok to meet with humanitarian partners and to engage with members of the internally displaced community to better understand their needs. They also visited the Primary Health Care Center and met with the dedicated medical professionals who assist the camps’ residents on a daily basis.
Between 2014 and 2021, the United States, through USAID’s Bureau for Humanitarian Assistance, has provided nearly $1.4 billion to support vulnerable Iraqis and Syrian refugees. The United States remains committed to providing humanitarian assistance to the internally displaced and to seeing them return to their homes in safety and dignity as soon as possible.
