Hasnaa, 50, is an accomplished carpenter. Since 2008, she has been running her well-known carpentry workshop in Basrah that manufactures engraved wooden doors, window frames, and furniture using traditional woodworking techniques – mostly working by hand. With emerging new technologies and the resulting advancements in woodworking techniques, Hasnaa’s factory has struggled to meet customers’ requests.
Through USAID support, Hasnaa was able to purchase a new vacuum press, a computer numerical control-cutting machine, and a manual tool sensor to meet the demands of her clients.
