Sgt. Matt Reese, from Coffeeville, Kan., searches for mines and unexploded ordnance in Tall Afar, Iraq, during an early morning operation on Aug. 1, 2004. Three battalions from the 3rd Brigade, 2nd Infantry Division (Stryker Brigade Combat Team) and three Iraqi National Guard battalions conducted the joint operations in an effort to seize weapons and detain terrorists seeking sanctuary in the city. Reese is a member of Company B, 5th Battalion, 20th Infantry Regiment.
