Milwaukee Brewers™ pitcher Brandon Woodruff presents Jay Wilson, a retired lieutenant colonel with the Wisconsin Army National Guard, with an autographed baseball during a service dog presentation July 24 at American Family Field™ in Milwaukee. Custom Canines Service Dog Academy of Madison, Wis., presented a service dog named Frosty to Wilson. Woodruff is an ambassador for Fairway Independent Mortgage Company, whose nonprofit arm American Warrior Initiative sponsored the service dog for Wilson, who was medically retired in May 2023 after 28 years of military service and multiple combat deployments. He works as an engineer with the Wisconsin Department of Military Affairs. Wilson will have physical custody of Frosty once several weeks of training are completed. Also pictured are Louise Thaxton, director and co-founder of the American Warrior Initiative, and Woodruff’s wife and daughter. Wisconsin Department of Military Affairs photo by Vaughn R. Larson
