Jay Wilson, a retired lieutenant colonel with the Wisconsin Army National Guard, and Brandon Woodruff, a pitcher for the Milwaukee Brewers™, share some parting words July 24 at American Family Field™ in Milwaukee. Wilson was presented with a service dog at the ballpark courtesy of American Warrior Initiative, a nonprofit arm of Fairway Independent Mortgage Company. Woodruff is an ambassador for Fairway Independent Mortgage Company. The service dog, named Frosty, is trained by Custom Canines Service Dog Academy in Madison, Wis. Wilson was medically retired in May 2023 after 28 years of military service and multiple combat deployments. He works as an engineer with the Wisconsin Department of Military Affairs. The Wilson family will have physical custody of Frosty once several weeks of training are completed. Wisconsin Department of Military Affairs photo by Vaughn R. Larson
