SSgt Bryan Amezquita Verbel is a natural-born leader who motivates his team and gets the mission done right. He led eight-person teams for a six-week period replacing over 34 roofs and 25,500 square feet of roofing under Defense Support of Civil Authorities Task Force RISEUP. By coordinating with the government of Guam, FEMA, US Army Corps of Engineers, and sister services, Amezquita Verbel was able to help families and the surrounding community recover from the storm. He also drove a $1.2M K-Span construction effort, managing 25 engineers in the fabrication of 3,000 suare feet of stem wall bracing, securing an $8M vehicle fleet supporting 2,500 Silver Flag students annually. Additionally, Amezquita Verbel filled the craft lead role for two months on a $1.6M Emergency Management facility build, guiding 80 man-hours and three Air Force specialties through a construction method the team had little experience with. Finally, he led a 29-person joint team for exercise Balikatan, constructing a 1,200 square foot school for 237 children, fortifying Parter Nation ties.
