170812-N-ZS023-010 SOUTH CHINA SEA (Aug. 12, 2017) Gunner’s Mate 2nd Class Christopher Frantz, bottom, a native of Odessa, Texas, and Gunner’s Mate 3rd Class Christian Wingate, a Pittsburgh native, both assigned to the Weapons department aboard the amphibious assault ship USS America (LHA 6), test a magazine sprinkler system in the ship’s magazine as part of regular scheduled maintenance. America, part of the America Amphibious Ready Group, with embarked 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit, is operating in the Indo-Asia Pacific region to strengthen partnerships and serve as a ready-response force for any type of contingency.
