    31st MEU Amphbious Integration Training

170808-N-JN784-590 FRESHWATER BEACH, Australia (August 8, 2017) Lance Cpl. Jeffrey Z. Lambert, attached to the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, conducts area reconnaissance and casualty assessment while wearing Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (CBRN) safety equipment during a simulated Toxic Industrial Chemical (TIC) exposure incident. The exercise is part of a larger Humanitarian Aid Disaster Relief (HADR) and amphibious integration training (AIT) evolution that had Marines responding to the exercise along with Marines playing victims in the training scenarios. The Bonhomme Richard Expeditionary Strike Group is participating in AIT with the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit to increase joint capability to respond to a number of potential contingencies. AIT, taking place off the coast of and within Australia’s Shoalwater bay training Area, will test the MEU’s ability to conduct all of its core missions such as stability operations, non-combatant evacuation and disaster relief.
