170810-N-ZO368-035 SAN DIEGO - Chief Steward Andrew Mills observes a barracks dedication ceremony at Naval Air Station North Island, Aug. 10. Mills, who is 102-years old, was a steward for the captain of the aircraft carrier Yorktown in 1942. During the Battle of Midway, Mills is credited with saving the ship's payroll when others failed as the carrier was on the verge of sinking.
